At JP Urban Moving, we are committed to maintaining the health and safety of our employees, customers, and community. We have been carrying out our full schedule of moves without incident, and are closely monitoring information related to the COVID-19 (coronavirus), daily. We understand that this is a stressful time with uncertainties in everyday life, and we want to do everything we can to ease any anxiety you might be feeling. As a result, we’ve implemented robust safety procedures for COVID-19 moving.

We are ready and prepared to move you with full precautions:

All of our workers have been made aware of the best practices of sanitation, protocols for conducting safe moves, and avoiding the spread or contraction of the virus. We arrive equipped with masks, disposable gloves, booties, sanitizers, and antiviral cleaning agents. In addition to CDC precautions, we adhere to the guidelines of the AMSA (American Moving and Storage Association) of which we are a member.

In addition to social distancing moves, the following safety procedures for COVID-19 are in place to move you safely and efficiently as possible:

No-Contact Moves: We are facilitating no-contact moves, in addition to no-contact packing & unpacking. We will take instructions before your job and go the extra mile to meet your needs. Therefore, you can send us photos, floor plans, give us directions, etc., and we’ll brief the Foreman. If we have any questions during the move, we will contact you via phone or video chat. Extra Precaution: Our movers wear gloves and masks on every job (and booties – optional upon requests). Please let us know at the time of your booking. There is an additional surcharge of $5 per mask, $1 per gloves, and $2 per pair of booties.

We are conducting virtual estimates: However, if you’re unavailable during office hours, you can record a video of your home and send it to us for a quote. Learn more about video estimates, what to expect and how to conduct your own. See Video Estimates to Keep You Moving During COVID-19.

Move-in/Move-out Building Procedures: If applicable, please check with your building(s) and confirm their COVID-19 Moving procedures. Let us know if there are guidelines we will need to keep in mind. Notably, any restrictions on access to the building elevator, loading/unloading? The more we know, the better we can plan a more efficient move for you.

BoxUp Eco-Bins: For the time being, BoxUp will operate on a limited schedule, with deliveries and picks up on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only. See BoxUp Operational Changes.

There will be no charge if you need to reschedule or cancel your move. We understand that you may not feel comfortable relocating during this time. Please call or email us if you wish to make a change. 


COVID Clean Up: Only upon advance request. Once the move is complete, as an add-on service, we can clean the frequently touched surfaces like door knobs, handles, countertops, etc. with disinfecting wipes. There will be a $10 surcharge for this service. Please let us know if you would like this add-on at the time of your booking.




Not all NYC moving companies will offer the same quality safety procedures and COVID-19 moving precautions. Whether you are choosing to move with another NYC moving company or us, it is essential to practice these safety guidelines: 

Please wear masks and gloves when being present for your move. If not, stay off-site and away from the movers while they work. We are happy to provide you with protection resources upon request.

Please allow movers to wash their hands as often as needed. A move can last a couple of hours to an entire day. 

Please clean/disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, especially door knobs and handles before the movers arrive. 

Please open your windows and let the air circulate freely.

Postpone your move if you or members of your household are sick or have shown symptoms.
